As much as we would like all projects to fit within an exact time frame, this isn’t always the case. Our projects can vary depending on budget, size of project, the homeowner’s decision-making ability, change requests, and other unexpected delays.

That being said, for a smaller scale Full Service Interior Design project, 4-6 months is a reasonable time frame. For full home remodels or design jobs, 6-12 months can be expected. Again, these scenarios both depend on factors such as level of detail, home size, budget allocation and overall scale of the remodel.

Virtual Interior Design projects are completed within two to four months. The implementation timeframe is flexible and determined by your preferences.

We also offer specialty packages if your design needs are much smaller. To learn more about these packages, visit our Services page.

Budget depends on so many variables, and it’s such a personal decision, based on your financial abilities and/or what you’re comfortable investing in the property. If you’re looking for an entire home remodel, you need to plan for a lot more than you’re likely anticipating. Even smaller projects add up quicker than we’d like.

Remember, when you’re considering budget, you need to think of all aspects of the design process. Construction labor and materials, designer fees, city permits, furniture, accessories, lighting, emergency fund for unexpected issues or delays etc. There is a lot to consider when it comes to determining the budget and there isn’t one set number that can fit for all projects.

Full Service Interior Design is a service that is intended for larger-scale projects. These are complete room renovations or design projects that we are involved in from beginning to end. To learn more about what is involved, and how different design studio have varying definitions of this type of service, read our latest article “What Does Full-Service Interior Design Mean?

Absolutely! Our Virtual Interior Design package is a flexible and remote service, which focuses on one room at a time. It provides custom design plans and shopping lists that can be implemented at your own pace, based on your time and budget constraints.

Full Service Interior Design is meant for larger-scale projects that involve in-person consultations, design presentations, space planning, project management (depending on scope), site visits, furniture and accessory sourcing, and hands-on, in-person installation.

Wall color, along with the natural and artificial lighting within your home, plays a pivotal role in creating a stunning space. However, selecting paint colors can prove to be a more challenging task than we like to admit. To simplify this process, Amy will visit your home for a dedicated paint selection session, bringing her paint sample books from Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore. By the end of the meeting, you will receive a list of paint colors (and sheen) that Amy recommends, along with the assigned room they belong to.

After reviewing our Services page in detail, we recommend you reach out to us directly using our inquiry form. We will then schedule a complimentary 15 minute discovery call. During this discovery call, we will recommend our next steps in the process as well as which services we think will fit you best.

Although we have contractors that we’ve used in the past, we recommend you interview and hire your own contractors. We work side-by-side with your chosen contractors to complete the job, and allow a low-level of project management if the scope calls for it. If you’re looking for recommendations, we would be happy to refer you!

Although our Full Service Design services remain within Fort Worth at this time, we do offer Virtual Design packages per individual rooms. To learn more, visit our Services page.

We also offer a 2 hour Virtual Consultation service under our “Designer Download” specialty package if you’re simply looking to schedule a one-time meeting, and not needing further assistance past that. This is ideal for someone who is needing limited access to an interior designer, without the long-term commitment.

Amy Horany, Principal Designer at Amy Horany Interiors, will be the designer you correspond with during your project. As the sole owner, Amy is intentional about keeping her project load small in order to give 100% of her attention to her clients at all times.

Once a project is underway, Amy will maintain consistent communication with you. We primarily rely on email, phone and video conferencing as they provide efficient and timely means of correspondence. Through these methods, we share project presentations, furniture and material selections, and exchange ideas. During the course of a project, Amy may visit the project site to review the progress and meet with contractors, meet with the homeowner, deliver samples, approve selections etc.

We try to maintain mutual respect by not texting or calling outside of standard work hours (mon.-fri., 9-5), unless a scheduled meeting is planned.

As much as we prepare, plan and communicate before the design phase even begins, not every single design will be a “Wow, you knocked it out of the park on the first try!” type of situation. Sometimes you might not like the chandelier we chose, or maybe the rug is a little lighter than you envisioned, or maybe the green was more overpowering than you thought it would be. Design is subjective, so these types of things are to be expected.

The design process requires focused communication and back-and-forth revisions between the client and designer. This feedback not only is expected, but also built into our time estimates and is essential to delivering the best possible design we can to our clients. Don’t be afraid to give honest and constructive feedback. This is YOUR home, and it’s our job to make it exactly as you envisioned it to be.

However, if we reach a point where the revisions and change requests are creeping outside of our agreed scope of work, we need to have a more formal discussion to better understand where the misalignment is coming from and how we would like to move forward to better understand each other’s vision for the space. If the client is simply changing their vision for the project, we may need to add more time to our original contract.

Although contractors are great at what they do, they aren’t designers. We are completely separate trades, and although a builder/contractor might have recommendations based on past clients and past projects, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best way to solve an interior design problem.

We recently published an article, Understanding the Differences Between Interior Designers and Contractors, so feel free to read our post to get a better understanding of the importance and differences of both trades.

Having your interior designer hired prior to launching your renovation is key in saving you time and money. Many homeowners think they can save money by skipping out on the designer, but what they don’t realize is the designer actually saves you money in the long run in the cost of mistakes made during construction. As the design expert, we move the decision-making process along much quicker by properly advising our clients and consistently steering them in the right direction, keeping them focused.

By having the designer hired from the get-go, you are also presented with ideas and concepts much better than you ever could have imagined yourself, because, yes, we’re professionals! Designers are creative by nature, and it’s our job to come up with creative solutions to make your home special and unique. We will also take into account all those practical little things that most people don’t think of when going through a remodel. We think of those things ahead of time, before it’s too late (or too expensive) to add or change later on.

Not a silly question at all; We actually get this one a lot, so thank you for asking! Amy’s last name, Horany, is pronounced {HOO-Ray-Knee}
